Creating a healthier future for both people and the planet

Championing Eye Care for all

Volk is committed to providing the highest quality eye care to individuals worldwide. We work with a global network of partners to carry out our mission of eradicating preventable blindness through accessible imaging of the eye. We celebrate individuals and organizations who share our mission and drive impact in the field, and advocate for educating the next generation of eye care professionals. Explore the featured campaigns and partnerships below to learn more about our ongoing efforts to champion eye care for all.

Featured Campaigns & Partnerships

Gift of Sight is dedicated to eliminating preventable blindness through proactive eye care, starting with our employees. In 2019, Volk came together with other Halma companies to screen over 2,500 employees, and raise funds for 8,000 sight-restoring surgeries in Ghana.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving eye health worldwide, we mark World Sight Day (WSD) each year by raising awareness and taking action to promote eye care. In 2022, we highlighted the role of technology in making eye care more accessible by donating 10% of VistaView® revenue made on WSD to Orbis UK Flying Eye Hospital.

Our partner, Advanced Center for Eyecare Global, is committed to providing quality eye care to underserved communities. Through VistaView® and Virtual, Dr. Kevin Barber and his team empower local doctors in Honduras to become self-sufficient ophthalmologists, allowing them to communicate with their mentors across borders for the best treatment options.

Addressing Climate Change

We recognize the urgent need to address climate change and are taking bold steps to do our part. Our current targets include eliminating all Scope 1 emissions by the end of 2024. But we're not stopping there. As part of our commitment to reach Net Zero by 2040, we will continue to build future goals into our targets to drive progress even further. This includes exploring renewable energy sources and finding ways to reduce our carbon footprint across all operations.

Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

We believe that fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is key to creating a productive and innovative workplace. That's why we have set targets for balanced gender diversity across all levels of the company. We will continue to find ways to improve our DEI initiatives, such as increasing our engagement with underrepresented communities and implementing programs to support the professional development of our diverse workforce

Innovating Circular economy

At Volk, we see the circular economy as a unique opportunity to drive innovation and unlock economic benefits. That’s why we have set ambitious targets to increase our circularity, such as maximizing the reuse, repurpose, and recycling of on-site waste, and transitioning to 100% recyclable packaging. But we're constantly seeking new ways to reduce waste and increase sustainability. As part of this ongoing commitment, we plan to explore new recycling and repurposing technologies and develop employee programs to drive innovation and engagement.

Sustainable Workplace

Waste recycling: We’ve implemented 2 recycling programs to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. Our production waste and employee waste recycling programs with Clean Glass Network, Able Alloy Inc. and Republic ensure that waste is handled responsibly and reused wherever possible.

Energy conservation: We've taken steps to reduce our carbon footprint through an energy audit and HVAC assessment at our headquarters. LED light installations have been implemented throughout all office areas, and we've reinforced our roof for improved energy conservation.

Employee incentives: We celebrate our employees' commitment to sustainability through individual carbon impact assessments. We encourage sustainable practices such as bringing your own bottle and plate to work, and reward employees who prioritize sustainability in their personal lives.
